This month is all about love..and I love my family! Although I'm far away I pray everyday that I will be home eventually with them! Although I do love SOCAL! Best place to live in the world! If we can afford to live here forever! Colin is almost 13 months. He has 8 teeth, says bye bye, mom, dad, my baby, and geeeeeee. He is a walking machine but has learned that finger foods can be thrown on floor. However he is a great eater usually! Just want to tell my family they are amazing!!! Pic below

Colin's 1st Birthday

We celebrated Colin's first birthday today. I cannot believe that he is already 1 years old. He had 2 very small parties. One in St. Louis and one here in San Diego. Colin has his 12 month checkup appointment tomorrow and I can't wait to see how he has progressed. He has taken up to 8 steps but is not completely walking. He is drinking out of a sippy cup, feeding himself, and is very very active. He babbles all the time, and has a lot of expression when speaking. He can say momma, daddy, ball, and geeeeekkk. We aren't sure what that means! He sleeps about 12 hours a night and goes to bed at 7pm on the dot. He never cries still, and has 6 teeth. Here are some pictures from his party. So Mommy wants me to write a little note to tell everyone why she never blogs anymore. First off she works a ton. Mommy is lucky enough to be the boss and let me come to work with her if needed. So sometimes I help with the seating charts. I never knew how to count but learned that circles mean round tables. Oh and pink highlighters aren't good, because I like to jam them in my mouth and clearly that is dirty and isn't good for me.Mommy has been trying sippy cups with me, I don't like them. This is the ONLY time I cry because I'd rather have a bottle.
Mommy has been trying to run with me more, its been tough because its cold in the mornings but at least she has attempted. I think she stops too much to check on my nose and hands though. Ruins her concentration, but I've had a few mornings of nice views on the beach. Summer will be better than this time of year, but she signed up for a 15k for March so I guess I'm part of the training.
Mommy was gone all day on Sunday the 13th to go and work Tim McGraw concert. She didn't get to meet him but she did get this picture with her coworkers. Apparently they sold a lot of booze in the tent. Daddy didn't bring me, I would of needed ear plugs. Although Mommy told me tons of irresponsible parents brought babies just like me with no ear plugs or hats! Hopefully the Naval Hospital wasn't too busy the next day from the burns.If you know my mom she has been in the middle of Marine Corps Ball Season. She has done 30 Marine Corps balls equally over 30,000 people in 3 years. I'm super proud of her but wonder why Chef Angelo won't let me try some of his food!

Oh and she met Billy Rae Cyrus...she told me this guy reminds me of her childhood.

Been totally busy, slammed that is....is is normal to do the amount of work I do on a weekly basis? I don't think so knowing other organizations I have worked for....regardless it is a paycheck. Here are a few videos. I've been trying to teach Colin a thing or two about sounds. Apparently he would rather throw things around which I'm sure my landlord wouldn't like to see. Its really not that funny of a video but it is to David and I because he never isn't moving. Colin now is in the habit of also taking off his pants, yes his pants. If he is napping and we go into getting him he will have no pants on...he must like to have his pants on the ground.

Still totally into his mommy....as always.

He loves to be tossed around. I know it makes my mother nervous, but he's my kids so sorry mom he likes the thrill of the toss!

Trip to STL

Colin and I went home for 5 days to St. Louis. I was so impressed with Colin's adjustment to the time change. He was an angel on the plane and people even came up to me and my mom in baggage claim to tell us what an angel and how he was the hit on the plane. Although I must say I did not make a scene Colin smiles at everyone and I think it grew on down the plane. It started with look at that smiley baby and he sure did ham it up. He throws his arms out everywhere and giggles and its almost like he knows he is putting on a show. We went home for Halloween and he was a SCARY pirate. Can't you tell>????I kept my hat on!

I took 200 pictures and he hardly looked at camera once...now that Colin is on the move its so hard to get a good shot. We basically just took him to a farmers market that had a bunch of pumpkins. He was more interested in the hay then pumpkin.I'm over this!

Colin had his 9th month checkup. He is in the 40% for height and 10% for weight. He also climbed up the stairs yesterday so we now 100% have a crawler.

My best friend out here in San Diego gave me tickets to Ellen for my birthday. I brought three of my friends to the show and we had a blast! If you want to see me on TV tune in tomorrow Oct 17th and you will see me on Ellen. The guests were Hilary Duff, a guy from 3 musketeers and dancing with the stars couple JR and Karina. I got put on the end and was sitting in Drew Breezes (the football player) reserved private seat. The show staff had seat seaters that escorted you to a seat. Only blondes were put on the isles, all overweight people were put to the right and if you tried to move seats they would move you right back. Crazy how there was a science to how they wanted who where!

Colin turned 8 months today. He is drinking his milk, eating solids 3 times a day along with Mum Mums and crawling everywhere. He is trying to stand up and is IMPOSSIBLE to change for all he wants to do is roll over and move. He loves to walk if you hold his hands and seems to be milking mommy for every cuddle he can get before bedtime. He still sleeps through the night from about 7 to 7. He loves people and especially LOVES to see new faces!I can tear up my sign!

Today Beth was able to participate in my unit's "Jane Wayne Day." She got to do all sorts of Marine things like shooting, hiking and obstacle courses. She was smiling the whole time, even when the Drill Instructors were pretending to yell at all of them. We had a great time, and like always, I was impressed me with her ability to adapt to new situations.

My little dude is 7 months today. He should be crawling by the end of the week. He's standing on his own when holding on to things and still smiles ALL the time. Now he has learned he can use paper for fun!

I can't believe I did this, but today DAVID, COLIN and I drove to 29 PALMS. Yes I went back to the place I hated so much I swore on my grave I would never go back. But I did! I went to surprise one of my best friends Kim (Kim possible many of you know her as) for her baby shower. Her face was priceless when she saw me, she started crying right away and had to compose herself after a few minutes! So it was pretty much worth every bit of the 2 and a half hour drive. Although I will say, I don't miss that place AT ALL.Meg did a great job on the diaper cake!

My friend Meg came in town with her husband Chris for a day and our boys finally got to meet! Landon is 2 weeks older than Colin and is a chunkier compared to baby cain! lol! Regardless of size the boys had so much fun looking at each other. It was so cute!!! We took them to the beach and had lunch at the Daily News. Here is a picture from Colin's 6 month checkup. We were a little late on his checkup because his original DR suddenly passed away so we had to get him a new DR. Colin weighs 15.5 pounds and is in the 10 percentile. His head is in the 30th, and his length is 25th. The DR told me not to worry about the percentiles. He said that Colin is completed proportionate for his size. Colin has been eating more solids lately. He eats oatmeal, rice, green beans, peas, and sweet potatoes. Although he isn't really into eating all of them he is getting used to it.Today Colin got his FIRST TOOTH!!!!! Its on his lower mouth and it is very sharp!

Colin 6 Months

He's such a ham! He smiles all the time, sleeps through the night, grabs his bottle when we are making it, grabs everything....he's perfect and we couldnt' ask for a better baby boy!
Although it seems like he is growing too fast. I hate being at work all day and missing out on so much but its not quantity its quality! I have to tell myself that because when I'm with him I give him the most attentive time I can! Although I'd love to be a stay at home mom, he's with a wonderful friend of mine and she sends me pictures all day of him! I'm so thankful for her 2 little girls that Colin flirts with and her passion for children. I know he is in the best hands during the day, and when I see Colin after work all my stress goes away. We are so lucky to have such a great baby!!
I would like Colin to know that at 6 months he is teething still, but sitting up on his own. He loves standing and can stand while holding onto something. He loves sitting in his bumbo outdoors and although isn't into a binky or blanket still loves kisses and huges. He loves rolling baseball or soccer ball across the floor. He is finally into eating oatmeal and rice but hates when we don't feed him quick enough. He sleep from 7pm to about 630am.....been doing that for 2 months....we can't complain. All of a sudden it seems like he never woke up to eat every 3 hours when he was little!

Today is Colin's first 4th of July. As a family we are very proud of our daddy for all he has done for our country. We took a picnic some champagne and OJ to the beach with our little dude. We had some lunch and nugget just sat and watched all the people and children. We did dip his feet in the ocean and he hated it. It was too cold but we will try again in 6 months. I saw lots of little kids just running in the ocean so I'm very excited for next year. I'm sure he will be running all over the place. Here are some great pictures from today. I have to work in a few hours for the 4th of July beach bash. I'm doing the VIP party for about 150 guests (just a bunch of Generals and Col's) and to be honest it really doesn't seem like work. I just stand there and see a bunch of drunk Marines act a fool and I'm in the VIP area just hanging out. Although I'm working at least I'm not among the crazy fools.

Nugget didn't really take to the rice cereal all that well, but eventually got the hang of it towards the end of the feeding. I'm going to do this for a week and see if he gets the hang of it, then I'm going to try Oatmeal next week. Then we will do veggies at some point, when it feels like its time. He still loves his milk and has been drinking like a champ. This morning he drank 7oz. That is an all time record for him! He has a little rash on his face from what we think is from teething. He has all the signs of teething but I have read this could go on for months. Poor little dude. Hopefully the cold food will help ease some pain over the next few months.

Colin loves a good story. The other day when I got this book out he literally opened it by himself and put his hands to both sides of the book. David and I just couldn't believe it and I was like "take a picture!!!" We read to him every night after his bath and he seems to be catching on that means its time for bed. Colin is the best baby. I'm not kidding when I say if you put him in his crib he will just go to sleep. No fussing no crying just sits there and stares at his bumper pads and falls asleep to his giraffe that plays white noise. He is still sleeping through the night which is cool, but I almost don't know what to do with myself. I've found myself waking up at 5:00 just waiting for him to get up but he usually doesn't wake until 7ish. With work it works out because by the time he gets up I'm ready for work and I can play with him an hour before I leave. Before Colin I would of thought getting up before 7am was so early! LOL! Now I'm just in mom mode all the time. I come home from work clean bottles pack his bed for the next day, get diapers ready and then lay his and mine clothes out for the next day. Its surprising calm around here too, which you would think with all the hours I work my house would be a mess and I would be running around. I think if Colin was a difficult baby that would be the case but lucky for us he is in my dads words "a world class baby".

I know your not suppose to put babies in the pool until 6 months, but today is just so beautiful and our pool is so nice so I just couldn't resist! Colin loved it, although we ruined his fun for afraid he would sunburn after like 10 minutes. It was a good start to a great summer! I can't wait to bring him back!

Its ridiculous how many mannerisms Colin already has that remind me of David. I really wish this child would do something that is ME! He's so all David. Colin loves being outside, in fact if he ever cries which is NEVER, if you walk outside he will stop immediately. He loves looking and touching trees and grass. I think he will be an outdoor baby for sure, but more partial to being a beach bum. If we are still living here in 5 years I'll totally sign him up for surf lessons.

This video is of Colin's latest thing. He likes when we roll the ball back and forth and he catches it. Lately I've noticed he's quite the thrill seeker. If you rough and tumble fake play with him he laughs. He loves being "nicely" tossed around (don't worry all in good fun) and just laughs and laughs. I love it when he laughs, it makes my day.

Colin has been at his new babysitters for a week now. My girlfriend Amy, who is a stay at home mom with 2 little girls, has been watching him during the day. I have been dropping him off, David has been picking him up. It was hard this week to say goodbye to him each morning. When I hand him off to her he gets all excited and smiles at her girls like he is flirting. I think I had my first "oh no" moment when I realized he really wanted to be around other girls, other than his mom. I've realized that he will always want to be around other kids (especially cute little girls) other than me. Its going to be great for him, for the special care he is getting with Amy and the socialization is priceless. Plus, knowing how wonderful Amy's girls turned out means Colin will benefit from her excellent parenting. I've been working a ton and haven't seen Colin all that much lately. I'm ready for Memorial weekend for I get almost 3 days with him. I leave for a business trip to Pasadena, CA on Monday and will be gone until Wednesday. Poor David is going to be exhausted when I get home, although Colin pretty much goes to bed at 730 and doesn't wake up until 4 or 5 and then goes back to bed until after 7 so hopefully it won't be too bad. Colin's First Legoland Trip

This weekend my Uncle Greg and Aunt Gina came in from out of town with their little girl Tessa. She is the most darling little girl and she was so excited to meet Colin! Colin slept the entire time he was at Legoland but we got a few good pictures! David and I hadn't been in 2 years but we will be going back when Colin is a little older often. I highly recommend it for anyone who has a 3 to 4 year old. I think it is more kid friendly than Disney and cheaper!

Chef Mindy

Today Chef Mindy lost her battle to cancer. She suffered for over a month with unbearable pain and the last week of her life was spent in hospice. She was a strong woman who didn't want to give her life up to cancer. Chef was one of the most talented people I have ever met in my life. She cared about everyone but herself, always putting others first. She will always have a special place in my heart. It is going to be very hard to go back to work without her there. I'm so glad she got to meet Colin and hold him before she passed. She was so supportive of me throughout my pregnancy. Heaven is lucky to have her in the heavens with them but the world has truly lost a great person.I can't tell you all how talented she was in the kitchen.
We have spent so many nights out together! I'm going to miss her so much!

Yesterday Colin out of no where laughed (hard) for the first time. It wasn't just a small laugh either, it was a big belly laugh. I was dancing around the living room and he was on the floor looking at me and started laughing! My mom, David and I just looked at one another and couldn't believe how hard he was laughing at his momma! Colin has also started grabbing things and swatting at things. I just can't believe how much 1 day can change my baby! Going back to work hasn't be that bad yet. I'm going to try to go home for lunch as much as I can to see him. It makes the time together that much sweeter.

I would like to do write what I have always said I would never do....but I'm going to say it. I have the best baby in the world. He never cries unless hungry or tired. He is so sweet and fun with his little personality. At 3 months I want Colin to know that he is a great baby and so easy. He has been in his crib for a week now, and goes to bed at 7:00 on the dime. Once we do his bath he just knows its time for bed and falls asleep so easy. Naptime during the day isn't bad either, for he sleeps at 10 and 2 like its his job. I go back to work Monday and I'm going to miss him so much. Although I wonder will it be worth it to have the money and to have the luxury of not having to worry about every dime we spend. BUT I often ask myself will I regret spending the time away to have the money?Regardless many moms across America go back to work after having a baby. I'm so fortunate to have a baby that is happy and healthy and I feel so blessed. Its been a pleasure being his number 1 provider over the last 3 months. I hope that when I go back to work he doesn't forget the love and care I have for him and that he knows I'm working for our family. I can't put into words how much I love being his mom and most importantly providing for him for the rest of his life. He is the reason I breathe everyday. and everyday I wake up I know its to make our life the best I can as a mom and wife. I love my son so much I can't stand it, and I'm honored to be his mom. I hope I make him proud one day, with him knowing I went back to work to provide a better life for him. I hope I can give him the opportunities my parents gave me. With that being said, let the games begin. I'm going to enjoy my last weekend before I go back to work with my family. Then moving forward I'm sure I"ll be rushing home to see the Nugget!

Happy 3 Months to my growing young man! So far he is rolling over from his tummy to his back, holding his head up for long amounts of time and only getting up once at night for a little milk. I have 1 more week before I go back to work. So sad!

When Colin and I returned from St. Louis we had a visitor right away! Uncle Greg came to meet Colin for the first time. A few days later his girlfriend Allison joined us to meet little nugget too! we had a great time and David, Colin and myself can't wait for them to come back and visit again soon!

Since we have been home it has been nonstop! I can't believe how many visitors we have had in just the week we have been home. Its a little overwhelming how much love we have here in St. Louis! Regardless of all the arms Colin has been tossed around in, he seems to be doing just fine! Although missing Daddy he has been a great sport!

If I ever move back to St. Louis Colin will have plenty of friends to hang out with that are his age. I have 2 friends that just had babies, which doesn't include all my friends that had babies earlier last year. Although the guys can't talk about a whole lot it was fun getting caught up with my girlfriends and talking about being parents. Here is a picture of Grayson (7 weeks) and Colin....

Colin is apparently going to be a biter....not sure what to do about that.....

One of my good friends from high school just had her baby Braden 3 weeks ago, so I stopped by today and had to get some pictures. Braden was an angel and my little Colin was a little less than cooperative. He was a little tired.....but at least we got pictures!

Oh and eventually we got them to talk to one another...isn't it bad we laugh....

Colin was listening to the blowdryer while I got ready today and fell asleep...and of course you know who was right there to make sure all was guarded. A 3 pound beast named Izzy.
Izzy seems to be warming up to Colin, if I put Colin down Izzy wants to smell him. Izzy loves the smell of the milk when Colin is eating so she can be found close to Colin during breakfast lunch and dinner.

Today we woke up to snow! I was so excited for Colin to see his first snow in St. Louis. Since we leave in San Diego we won't see snow again for like....ever.
He seemed to like it for the 10 seconds I had him outside!

Colin is a SOCAL baby, so its a good thing his grandparents made him a fire to keep warm. Even if its 50 degrees this week in St. Louis thats going to be chilly for my nugget. This picture cracks me up! Totally Christmas card material!
